Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) delivers comprehensive skills, education and business support for Scotland’s land-based industries, founded on world class and sector-leading research, education and consultancy. SRUC was founded in 2012 through the merger of four partners: SAC, Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge Colleges, and builds-upon the excellence in teaching, research and consultancy that had been established across the founder organisations.

In terms of structure and breadth of focus, SRUC are unique in Scotland, and the largest organisation of its kind in Europe. Its activity is delivered through a wide network of 31 teaching, research and veterinary centres, research farms and offices that are located across lowland, highland and central Scotland. Research is conducted across a wide range of areas, including: Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Crop and Soil Systems, Future Farming Systems and Land Economy, Environment and Society.

Easter Bush host the main hub for SRUC’s animal focussed research and is also one of the primary hubs for their consultancy a veterinary services activity. It hosts SRUC’s EGENEs service which provides genetic evaluations for UK dairy cattle on behalf of AHDB Dairy, and genetic evaluations for a number of UK beef cattle and sheep breeds.
