Alice supports the Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC) activities of The Roslin Institute and the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. As part of Alice’s business development activities, she supports mutually beneficial research collaborations and partnerships between the Institute and industry. This covers identification of engagement opportunities, connecting and engaging relevant academics and companies, leveraging research funding, negotiating commercial and IP terms and implementing contracts. The role is also about embedding a KEC culture among academics and promoting the Institute through the running of events targeted at industry.
Alice also supports identification and management of academic innovations with commercial potential. This includes supporting the translation of innovation to market through running due diligence on IP, identifying and evaluating a potential market, supporting translational funding applications, bringing partners on board and/or licensing inventions/know-how to external partners.
