About Roslin Technologies
Roslin Technologies is an ambitious, cutting‐edge biotech company focused on food and agriculture. Our mission is to advance disruptive biotechnologies to improve how we produce proteins. Alternative proteins are key for a more sustainable food system. We envision a world where we can produce animal proteins without harming our health, the planet, or animals and ensure everyone has access to affordable, nutritious proteins.

Our main focus is on developing animal cell technologies for the emerging cultivated meat sector. We develop stem cell lines using ground-breaking technologies, including Embryonic (EDSCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). We provide these cell lines to cultivated meat producers globally who will use these cell lines to develop and produce cultivated meat. Our approach is unique to this sector both in terms of technology and business model. Our animal cell lines are playing a key role in bringing the reality of cultivated meat closer.

Our brilliant team of experts are passionate, curious, inventive and at the forefront of the ground-breaking work being accomplished in this rapidly growing, cultivated meat sector

About The Role
The position for Stem Cell Scientist is an exciting career opportunity for a passionate laboratory technician. Our team are deriving high quality pluripotent stem cells, including induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and embryonic stem cells (ESC) from farm animals. Following derivation, these cells are going through an extensive process of characterisation which involves assessment of pluripotency and derivation into several cell lineages. We use multiple derivation techniques to develop the best cells for cultivated meat production through and continuously improve our procedures.

You will be responsible for the derivation of iPSCs, and ESCs from species including ovine, bovine, porcine and other species. Your activities will include the derivation of cell lines from animal tissue, initial expansion, and characterisation of these lines prior to cell banking as well as providing technical support on a variety of studies to support the utility of these cell lines for the cultivated meat industry. Cells are the most important ingredient for cultivated meat. And a continuous improvement of cell lines is essential for the cultivated meat to become safe, nutritious and affordable.

Essential Skills
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BSc/MSc) in a relevant discipline (e.g., cell biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, tissue engineering) or, alternatively at least 4 years’ experience in a relevant technical role in an academic or industrial setting
• Experience in working with adherent and/or suspension stem cell cultures
• Goal-oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
