Sustainability key to Roslin Tech offering — interview with Kristian Bennetsen
Sustainability is a key part of Roslin Technologies’ offering to both its customer base and the investment community, according to JBI partner Kristian Bennetsen, one of the original investors in the business.
Speaking in an interview with Roslin Tech’s David Clarke, he talks about the huge impact that the company can have in lowering the amount of resources and carbon dioxide used in the production of meat. By creating improved breeding lines through genetic and genomic analysis we can lower the food conversion ratio, signalled by a reduction in the amount of food that needs to be transported to farms and given to animals.
In addition, Roslin Tech is at the forefront of developing new protein sources, in particular working on turning insects into high-quality protein animal feed. The process, developed by portfolio company Protenga, then turns the waste produced in this process into fertiliser. This focus on making the agricultural and veterinary industries more efficient is an important signal to the investment community of Roslin Tech’s sustainability credentials, Kristian says.
